Safety and Health Officer

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Safety and Health Officer who will identify and assess risks in the workplace and implement recommended measures to eliminate them. The incumbent will also be responsible to formulate Safety and Health policies and procedures, ensuring their strict adherence as well as establishing compliance with all statutory requirements from all stakeholders.

The incumbent will report to the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review existing Safety and Health management system to be in line with the required local legislation and best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessment, submit reports, and enforce corrective measures on a timely basis.
  • Work closely with Management in promoting health promotion activities within the organization.
  • Initiate, organize, and conduct health and safety training for employees, contractors, consultants, and other
  • Actively manage accident, incident, and near misses, including KPIs and their action (CAPA) plans to ensure a continuously safer working environment for all.
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated.
  • Coach & provide professional advice, support and guidance to Line Managers to develop their understanding of the OSH legislation and their practical application at the workplace.
  • Conduct duties as per the requirement of OSHA 2005 and related legislations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of sustainability projects and initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or any equivalent
  • Proven experience in the capacity of a Safety & Health Officer for at least five years.

Other Requisites

  • Understanding of OSHA 2005, MFRSA 2013, DCCA 2004 and regulations.
  • Familiar with Management system and Food safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; problem – solving and decision-making aptitude.
  • Having a can-do attitude to make things happen.
  • Holder of a valid driving license.
